TOPEKA, Kan. ( WIBW /Gray News) - Photos circulating online recently have people speculating what kind of animal was spotted in northeast Kansas.
A picture taken by a Shawnee Heights resident Saturday in their driveway has quickly gained attention after Google Images told them it was likely a black bear.
However, the bear expert at the Topeka Zoo said the chances of it being a black bear are “almost zero.”
“I’m leaning more towards coyote,” Tracey Henderson, the northern carnivore keeper from the Topeka Zoo, said. “I could see more understandably by the Colorado border, but I would say absolutely not.”
Dennis Dinwiddie, the zoo’s conservation director, agreed with Henderson.
