The Boston Licensing Board today gave Fiskie's Cafe, 27 Harbor Point Blvd. in Dorchester, permission to extend its closing time from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The Indian restaurant, which has been open for three months, had requested a 3 a.m. closing time for the spot, which in the past been home to Chinese and Mediterranean restaurants that were also called Fiskie's Cafe.

Manager Devarshi Patel was supported in his 3 a.m. bid at a Wednesday hearing by both UMass Boston students and Harbor Point residents, who said they were looking for something to sustain them through the wee hours, including a software engineer who said he often takes work calls into the early morning and was looking for an alternative to having to drive out to "some fast food joint and eat unhealthy," and a Chelsea resident
