NEW ORLEANS — The field of candidates vying to become New Orleans' next mayor has narrowed, as former Criminal District Court Judge Arthur Hunter announced Thursday he is ending his campaign and endorsing State Senator Royce Duplessis, according to WWL sources.

"Are you ready for our city to have the leadership we all deserve?" Hunter said during a press conference. "Then join me in supporting Royce Duplessis."

Arthur then introduced Duplessis as the next mayor of New Orleans. The two shared a moment of applause together.

"We later worked together side by side in the fight for criminal justice reform," Duplessis said. "He did it from the bench, me, I did it as a young lawyer at the Louisiana Supreme Court under Chief Justice Bernette Johnson."
