MILTON, W.Va. — A Milton city worker died Thursday after being trapped in a ditch.

Authorities said a trench was being dug behind the GoMart on Mason Street when it collapsed at around 11 a.m. trapping the worker.

First responders from Cabell and Putnam counties were on the scene in a rescue attempt. The death was reported a short time later.
