BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Students in Bossier Parish are officially back in class today, and the school district is kicking off the new year with some major changes, starting with a historic pay raise for teachers.

Superintendent Jason Rowland said the increase is the most significant permanent pay raise in parish history that didn’t require asking the public for additional funding. “On August 25th, our teachers are going to see at least $2,500 more, and if you have more years of experience, you’ll get even more than that,” Rowland said. “It’s a much-needed, progressive move. We’re really trying to take the lead and show that this is not just a good place to be, it’s the place to be.”
