At the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Co ., first responders use tools to protect themselves while on-duty. Here though, they only need one: Bloodwork.
Over this week, the American Cancer Society has provided free cancer screenings to past and current members of the fire company.
"We've had members who have moved out of the area, senior members that have retired — they all came back to get screening," Pikesville Volunteer Fire Capt. Glenn Resnick told 11 News.
The screening includes a comprehensive ultrasound and bloodwork that will test for 50 different cancers.
"They are for the present day — not futuristic or predicted," US Wellness coach Gray'Ce Hill-Loyal told 11 News. "Basically, it takes three or four weeks before you get your results."
