GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Flanked by large clusters of bright green balloons -- which match the signature color inside -- Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS) leaders gathered in the entrance of the new Southeast Career Pathways school.

Scholars attending the small high school, which boasts an “alternative plan to reach graduation,” will now be in a new building renovated with $7 million.

Speaking during the Wednesday, Aug. 6 ribbon cutting ceremony, Superintendent Leadriane Roby said, “This is what equity looks like in action.”

The renovation has been touted by the district as the largest project to date in the Reimagine GRPS initiative, an expansive campus restructuring plan that includes the closure/consolidation of 10 schools.
