(WJW/NewsNation) -- Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson, has passed away from cancer at 48, according to reports.

A representative for their family told People and Entertainment Weekly in a statement that he "bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family."

Clarkson just Wednesday revealed Blackstock had been sick as she postponed the remainder of her Las Vegas residency “to be fully present” for her children.
