For a few moments, it is possible to experience something akin to the day-to-day life of someone suffering from dementia.

Donning a pair of specialized goggles, earphones and other equipment to limit sensory abilities, participants go through a simulation and a series of activities. Participants are asked to do simple tasks and filter it through sensory distractions to create an atmosphere similar to what someone with dementia might experience.

All too often, it’s nearly impossible for caregivers, family and those who work with dementia patients to imagine what they go through. Seniors Helping Seniors, an in-home care service, aims to at least give a glimpse into dementia’s reach.
