According to court records, LaTonya Harris entered the guilty plea earlier this week, more than a year after initially pleading not guilty to attempted murder charges.

The mother is accused of setting her daughter on fire in February after finding out about alleged sexual assault of the teen by her fiancé.

Investigators said Harris doused her 15-year-old daughter in a flammable substance and set her on fire in February 2024, shortly after learning the teen had been raped by Harris' fiancé. The man had also allegedly shot the girl.

Authorities said the child's severe burns and other injuries went untreated for two months — until a car crash in Texas finally brought her to a hospital
