GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Dozens of community members got a firsthand look Wednesday at how their donations to the Heartland United Way are making a difference.
The Heartland United Way serves Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick counties, but the bus tour led 40 community members to 20 nonprofits in Grand Island.
The tour started at the Heartland United Way office at 7:30 Wednesday morning and the tour ended at 4:30 that afternoon.
Communications Director Sara Kirkley said the tour served as a great way for the community to hear stories from nonprofits they wouldn’t normally hear.
“It’s just a great opportunity to see what they do for yourself, see where your dollars go and learn stories you wouldn’t hear anywhere else,“ Kirkley said.
