The East Providence School Committee voted 4-1 to approve the awarding of a Request for Quote (RFQ) to Gatekeeper Systems Inc. to supply the district with stop-arm cameras for their entire fleet of school buses — in time for the beginning of the school year, and at no cost to the city or the school district.

The announcement came during the school committee meeting on Tuesday night, where acting East Providence Police Chief Michael Rapoza testified in support of the company.

“It seems like they have a product that meets the needs of school committee, the police department, and Rhode Island General Laws,” Rapoza said.
