FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is warning residents to stay out of the water in parts of Franklin County after the area did not meet water quality criteria.

The Franklin County branch of the DOH said Thursday that Alligator Point Beach and St. George Island Beach failed to meet state standards for “the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria” during testing Wednesday.

“DOH-Franklin advises against any water-related activities at this location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers,” a press release said.

The state agency warned that water quality advisories are also still ongoing at Carrabelle Beach.
