DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Six people hoping to fill a temporary spot on the Duluth City Council are going through their first round of interviews Thursday night.

Six people are hoping to fill the rest of former Duluth councilor Mike Mayou’s term in the 2nd District seat:

Aaron Rose

Craig Bursch

Deborah DeLuca

Eric Lindell

Janet Nelson

Sam Weston

Mayou stepped down earlier this year after moving outside his district for family reasons.

Starting shortly after their agenda session meeting begins Thursday evening, the current councilors will interview the six applicants.

The top three applicants will move on to a final round of interviews Monday, before the Council makes its pick.
