KENTUCKY (WKYT) - Today’s Good Question is: Why did Apple choose Harrodsburg as the location to manufacture its screens?
Apple already had a large investment in the Corning plant in Harrodsburg. The company said since the creation of its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund in 2017, “Apple has invested nearly $500 million in Corning’s Kentucky operations, with billions more spent on glass manufactured in the U.S.”

That plant has a history of making glass and adapting to changing technology. A report in the Harrdosburg Herald says it opened in 1952 to make optical glass for the U.S. Air Force.
PCMag reports that they then made glass for LCDs, “But as the LCD industry shifted to Asia, Corning rein
