BAY CITY, MI – The Bay County Board of Commissioners has taken a significant step toward making the new community pool a reality .

During their Tuesday, Aug. 5 meeting, commissioners voted to authorize county administration to begin preparing for bond issuance to fund the Community Center Pool project. The measure passed without discussion.

The authorization allows the county to enter into agreements with financial advisors and legal counsel specializing in municipal bonds. These bonds will be backed by the pool millage that voters approved in November 2024 .

The 20-year millage will support both the construction and operation of the Bay County Pool. County officials indicated that bond financing is necessary to expedite construction and open the facility to the public as quickly as
