This fall, the Orediggers will have big shoes to fill — their own.

The Colorado School of Mines women’s soccer team was ranked No. 4 among NCAA Division II teams in a recent United Soccer Coaches preseason poll .

Last year, the Orediggers went undefeated in the regular season and won both the conference regular-season and tournament titles. Their first and only loss of the season was in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals to eventual national champion Cal Poly Pomona.

Mines ended its historic season with a 20-1-2 record, and several team and individual accolades.

Several of Mines’ longtime foes and upcoming opponents were also ranked in the same preseason poll, including Dallas Baptist at No. 15 and Colorado Mesa at No. 22.
