GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — You may know it from getting your ears pierced as a child: Claire's, a long-time, well-known store in most U.S. malls, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection .
Claire's U.S. operates not just Claire's stores, but Icing stores as well. Claire's filed for bankruptcy in Delaware on Wednesday, marking the second time the company has filed for bankruptcy in just seven years.
In the midst of declaring bankruptcy, Claire's has also identified several locations across the country it plans on closing.
One of the locations that's closing is right here in West Michigan. The Icing store in Grand Rapids' Woodland Mall is set to close by September. Icing sells products similar to Claire's but targets a slightly older clientele.
