LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A new battle of the bands competition is coming to Las Vegas, hoping to find a local band to join the Neon City Festival.

The Neon City Festival is partnering up with the Fremont Street Experience to create a new battle of the bands competition called Rock the Block, aiming to spotlight the valley's local talent.

Submissions for Rock the Block opened on Aug. 7 and will be accepted until Sept. 21. Finalists will be announced on Sept. 26.

Up to six bands will be chosen to compete live on Oct. 3 during the final night of the Fremont Street Experience's Local Originals concert series.

“Las Vegas has always been a city full of fresh energy and bold talent, and Rock the Block will celebrate just that,” said Andrew Simon, President and CEO of Fremont Street Experience.
