LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - A new school year is about to start for Lynchburg City Schools and this year begins with new leadership.

Thursday’s district-wide convocation welcomed teachers and staff with big energy, heartfelt moments, and a new superintendent.

Inside the Lynchburg City Schools convocation, it was electric. Laughter, hugs, and a full house of educators ready to kick off the new year.

And this time a new face leading the way.

“What I’m looking forward to is just engaging with kids, engaging with families. To learn more about the school division, to look at where our strengths are, and see where we need to enhance any opportunities for growth,” said Dr. Kristy Somerville-Midgette, Lynchburg City Schools new Superintendent.
