NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - August 4 marked the start of an appeal hearing for the man convicted in the 2018 Waffle House shooting in Antioch that left four people dead.

Travis Reinking was sentenced to four life sentences in 2022.

His defense is seeking a new trial and argues that he was suffering from a mental disease at the time of the shooting.

They called to the stand a psychologist, who evaluated Reinking, and claimed that he had schizophrenia and believed that the CIA was after him.

Here are instructions on how to watch WSMV4 live on various platforms.

“He had no beef with Waffle House in any way or any of the people in there; he didn’t know them, that wasn’t the issue, he believed they were hacking him, and they were a part of this,” Dr. Bhushan Shreeram Agharkar explained.
