BANDON, Ore. (WILX) - Recent Michigan State graduate Brooke Biermann outlasted Princeton University’s Olivia Duan in a 22-hole match to advance to the Round of 16 at the USGA Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes in Oregon on Thursday.
Biermann was 1-down when she sank a birdie on hole 16 to pull her back even. Biermann and Duan then tied five straight holes before Biermann was able to take the win with a par on the fourth playoff hole and 22nd hole of the match.
Michigan State golfer Taylor Kehoe also played a tight match against Julia Misemer of the University of Arizona. Tied after 16 holes, Kehoe won hole 17 with a par, and the pair tied on hole 18 to give Kehoe the win, 1-up.
Both Biermann and Kehoe will head right back out to the course on Thursday in the Round of 16. Biermann will face
