SKOWHEGAN, Maine (WABI) - Thursday was opening day for the Skowhegan State Fair. The fair that runs ten days has been going on for more than two centuries.
“It’s a beautiful day to open up our 207th year of the Skowhegan State Fair,” stated Advertising Director Denny Morin.
For many Mainers, when early August comes around, that means a trip to Skowhegan.
“I’ve been coming here since 1960 when I was a toddler, and I’ve been coming here ever since,” recalled Morin.
There’s animals to check out, rides to ride, but for the regulars, it’s that classic fair food that stands out.
“Actually that’s one of my favorites, probably the favorite is food concessions, I just love the fair food,” answered Morin.
