ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester family has returned home as gold medalists after competing in the 2025 Kukkiwon Taekwondo World Championship in California.

Jeff and Andrea DeWilde, along with their sons Ethan and Elias Lanze, showcased their skills in events like power kicks and creative board breaking.

The championship, held outside Korea for only the second time, provided a unique opportunity for the DeWilde family to compete on an international stage.

Jeff and Andrea, owners and master instructors at Master Kim’s Taekwondo Institute, were thrilled not only for their own achievements but especially for their sons' success.

"It’s amazing to see from the other end," Jeff DeWilde said, reflecting on his sons' accomplishments at the tournament.
