NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — Multiple agencies responded to a drowning call near the Hardy Dam on Thursday afternoon.

The Newaygo County Sheriff's Office, Big Prairie Fire Department and Croton Township Fire Department were dispatched to Operator’s Village Day Park, located on the east side of Hardy Dam at about 1:07 p.m.

When deputies arrived on the scene, members of the two fire departments had already located a 24-year-old man underwater and were in the process of transporting him to the shore.

When the man was brought on shore, police said he had no pulse, but CPR was immediately started by the first responders. Life EMS also assisted in the life-saving measures when they arrived, and authorities were eventually able to get the victim's pulse back.

He was transported to Corewell Health
