TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and Terre Haute firefighter Nathan Huyck was having a relaxing day off at his house when he suddenly heard shouting from his neighbors front yard.
"I was off duty just doing some stuff in my back yard. I heard my neighbor calling for me so I went up there to see what was going on, and the mother was standing in the yard giving birth to a child," says Huyck.
Huyck reacted quickly, getting the woman to the ground, and started helping her deliver the baby right there in the front yard. "We coached her in pushing. Obviously the mother does most of the work there you know," Huyck tells News 10.
Huyck says that when the baby came out, he was able to recognize that it needed immediate medical attention. Huyck jumped into action
