The unidentified driver of an early model Ford pickup truck is undergoing treatment at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital after the vehicle he was driving left the road and went into the woods south of Jasper on Thursday morning.
Police, firemen and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the location about a mile south of Jasper on Highway 96, shortly before noon, when it was reported that the accident had occurred.
A man, who was traveling north on Highway 96 at the time, said the Ford, which was traveling south on Highway 96 for some unknown reason started veering to the left, crossed over the north bound lane and ran into the woods on the east side of the highway.
