MONROE, Wis. (WKOW) -- A woman pleaded guilty to felony forgery in Green County Court on Thursday.

Angela Wechel admitted to forging her nephew, Karl Schoenhard's, firefighter certificate after he asked her to make him a fake certificate when he was not able to pass his exam.

The investigation began when the forged certificate was brought to the Albany Village Board in June 2024. Investigators found Schoenhard's certificate number existed but belonged to someone else.

Investigators also discovered Welchel, 53, of Albany, prepared other documents at Schoenhard's request, including pay stubs, sick leave documentation and other documentation, according to a criminal complaint.
