ASHEVILLE – The city school board will consider approval of a nearly $244,000 facility study Aug. 11, a district-wide analysis that would result in a masterplan and recommendations for long-term facility needs.

Asheville City Schools board discussed the proposal from Charlotte-based architect McMillan Pazdan Smith Aug. 4. The price tag was significantly decreased from the initial cost, said Superintendent Maggie Fehrman — down to $243,950 from $282,800 — after the district asked them to factor in data and reports it had already invested in.

The study is key to the district’s future strategic planning process, with facilities ranging in age from 20 years to 100.
