SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — With a change of address in the near future for the Boys and Girls Home of Sioux City, city officials are taking a look at what could go in their current building next.

The City of Sioux City's Economic Development Department conducted a feasibility study of the former St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital on Court Street.

City officials are now looking for developers interested in converting the building into affordable housing.

The north portion of the complex, formerly the St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital, is expected to be renovated for apartments.

The southern portion, which dates back to 1913, has been vacant for decades and is set to be demolished.

City officials said that with a housing demand in the city, redevelopment would be a beneficial opportunity.
