FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Mayor Tucker is calling a new youth violence prevention program a proactive step toward keeping the city safe.
The youth violence prevention plan includes $250,000 in proposed funding drawn from interest earned through the American Rescue Plan.
She says it would be used to provide microgrants of up to $10,000 to local organizations working to reduce teen violence.
According to Mayor Tucker, city council would need to approve the funding.
Mayor Tucker’s Young Adult Council will also meet with teens to discuss community issues, including how microgrant funds should be used.
