NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WPTA) - What began as a terrifying morning for one Allen County family ended in relief, thanks to a quick-thinking police K-9.
Late Friday morning, a 2-year-old boy went missing at his home on Tillman Road in New Haven. According to police, the child had wandered into a cornfield right by the home, disappearing among its towering rows.
The boy’s parents immediately called 911.
Within minutes, officers from New Haven Police Department, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Fort Wayne Police, and Indiana State Police were on scene.
New Haven Police chief, James Krueger says they launched a large-scale search, using drones to scan from above and K-9 units to sweep the ground.
He says among them was K-9 “Millie” with the New Haven Police Department. As the search stretched o
