NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WPTA) - Officials broke ground on the site of the future New Haven Fieldhouse Friday morning.
It was originally planned to be built on property owned by Grace Gathering Church, but earlier this week, members of the New Haven City Council approved a plan to move it to a different location along Minnich Road.
New Haven Mayor Steve Michael said he was excited to break ground on the project, a day that has been “years in the making.”
“That we find ourselves in this moment is a testament to the grit, determination and dedication of all our partners,” McMichael said. “Now, we look forward to the completion of the Fieldhouse, ribbon cutting and ultimately, welcoming youth sports teams and families from all across the region to New Haven.”
