ENDWELL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer came to the Southern Tier yesterday to announce how he plans to protect Social Security.
Schumer spoke at the Broome West Senior Center about his new legislation to reduce wait times and make getting Social Security checks easier for New Yorkers, amidst what he calls chaos created by the GOP and DOGE.
Schumer says DOGE has fired thousands of Social Security workers that 203,000 Southern Tier seniors rely on. He says we must invest to reduce wait times and hire workers to make social security more efficient, especially in a place like Broome County that heavily relies on it.
