BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Additional funding for the Broome County Humane Society is barking up to be the cat's meow.

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo announced two state grants totaling $90,000 to support the shelter's operations. Last year it received a $50,000 grant which funded the purchase of medical supplies, three new washers and dryers, laptops, iPads and outdoor turf for the dogs. The additional $40,000 in this year's budget will pay for further improvements, including video cameras and upgrades to the veterinary area. Assemblywoman Lupardo says that the shelter plays a huge role in the safety of the animals.
