TOWN OF DICKINSON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - Broome County is cracking down on illegal vehicle usage.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office announced today that it has started a two-phase enforcement initiative on illegal All-Terrain Vehicles, Utility Task Vehicles, and motorcycle use. This comes after the office received numerous reports over the past few months and witnessed ATV, UTV, and motorcycles being illegally operated on public roadways, railroad tracks, and private property without permission.

According to the office, the vehicles need to be registered with the DMV, have liability insurance, have permission to use it by the property owner, and cannot be used on public roadways. Broome County Sheriff, Fred Akshar, says the two-phase approach focuses on education and then enforcement.
