HARRIS, Minnesota — A Duluth man was driving south on I-35 in Chisago County when officials say he was shot in the leg by someone more than 1,500 feet away.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office said the man was driving around 10:40 a.m. on Thursday when the shooting happened near Harris. The bullet went through the driver's side door, hitting the man in the leg.
Deputies, troopers and DNR officers immediately began canvassing the area looking for where the gunfire came from.
Officials said three men were found on private property who had been shooting rifles at targets positioned in the direction of the interstate. The estimated distance from where the men were to where the driver was struck was more than 1,500, authorities said.
The 48-year-old Duluth man was taken to Regions Hospital
