The Enterprise City Council on Tuesday unanimously elected Councilman Greg Padgett, who represents District 3, to serve as council president for the remainder of the current term after Turner Townsend stepped down from the role.
Padgett was nominated by Councilwoman Sonya Rich during Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. The motion to elect him was made by Councilman Scotty Johnson and seconded by Councilman Eugene Goolsby.
Padgett assumes the role following the announcement that Council President Turner Townsend will step down as a councilman, effective Aug. 31.
Tuesday’s meeting marked Townsend’s final time presiding as council president. “I’m truly honored my fellow council members chose me to serve as president for the rest of this term,” Padgett said. “I’m grateful for their trust
