COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) conducted an operation at a Colorado Springs apartment complex Thursday morning.

According to the DEA’s Rocky Mountain Field Division, two search warrants were served at the Village East Apartments, on Hathaway Drive between Galley Road and Highway 24. The agency said the apartments they searched were “being used to distribute drugs by Mexican cartel members.”

During Thursday’s operation, officials said they seized fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, a handgun and a “large amount” of money.

The DEA’s Rocky Mountain Field Division said five people in the apartments were arrested for immigration violations and transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
