CASTINE, Maine (WABI) - Over the next few days, crews will continue to monitor a wildfire in Castine.
Officials estimate the fire, which spanned about 3.5 acres, is roughly 80% contained.
Wednesday night crews created a 20-foot-perimeter using a bulldozer to remove flammable material.
The fire at this point is mostly smoke and smolder.
No structures were damaged, but most of the trees in the area of the fire are not expected to survive.
The cause of the fire is under investigation although we’re told early signs show a lightning strike could have started it.
