PETERSBURG, Va. (WWBT) - On Thursday, city and state leaders came together to celebrate three years of ‘Partnership for Petersburg.’ An initiative between the city and the Governor’s Office to improve the historic city.
“We are proving that when we focus on what unites us, we can achieve extraordinary things,” Mayor Sam Parham said.
They touted a slew of accomplishments, like a 50% reduction in homicides and an 84% improvement rating for Petersburg schools. Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced a $3 million partnership with Civica to expand the production of affordable insulin.
“Today is a progress report, not a finishing spot,” Youngkin said.
