Danville Public Schools Superintendent Angela Hairston hopped off bus No. 44 at the new Arnett Hills Elementary School on Wednesday morning.

When the first day of school rolls around, Hairston rides the classic yellow vehicle to accompany students.

In the five years she’s been superintendent, this was the first time it rained.

There was one kindergartener she “connected” with during the ride.

He wasn’t exactly thrilled when the moment came to head into the school. In fact, that’s when the tears started.

The superintendent not only hugged to console the student, but she also walked with him inside, holding his hand the entire way.
