MANSFIELD, La. -- Fire departments in two local parishes are celebrating improved fire ratings that in turn will result in savings for insured homeowners.

The Property Insurance Association of Louisiana has upgraded the city of Mansfield's fire rating from Class 4 to Class 3, with Class 1 being the highest on a scale of 10. The city once was rated Class 6.

"This is an advancement that reflects years of dedicated service, strategic planning, and investment in fire protection and infrastructure," Mansfield Mayor Thomas Jones said in a news release. "This latest upgrade marks a significant leap forward and demonstrates the city's steady progress in protecting lives and property."
