August is boom times for lovers of reboots, sequels, and and fans of familiar IP. While there's nothing wrong with that — some of it's even, [gasp], good! — theaters aren't just showing new stuff.

There's always good repertory screenings happening, which you know if you've ever been here before. I don't have data to back this up, but it feels like a fairly ecclectic week for repertory movies. (At least for a week without a film festival.) Werner Herzog's short documentaries, Mishima, Lady Snowblood, the start of a series at Emagine Willow Creek focused on the films of Harmony Korine, a little Hitchcock...
