NEW ORLEANS — If you didn't see it, you probably heard it, and by Thursday morning, it was all over social media and the talk among co-workers.

“We’ve been talking about this at work all day,” said New Orleans resident Tetiana Jones.

That topic of conversation is about what happened above New Orleans the night before, creating extremely loud sounds and bright sights.

“My one coworker, he lives Uptown, and he said that they came out and saw, they saw the jets and the flame coming out of the jets,” said Jones.

The Louisiana National Guard confirms to WWL Louisiana that, yes, fighter jets were what people saw and heard. According to a spokesperson, they took off from the Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse, part of planned training that’s been happening since Tuesday.
