PORTLAND, Ore. — Just weeks after announcing thousands of layoffs in Oregon, Intel is now under political fire — this time from President Donald Trump.
In a post Thursday morning on Truth Social, Trump called for Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan to resign , citing the executive's business connections to Chinese companies.
"Lip-Bu's China activities are not secret. He's a legend in the semiconductor industry. He has been around forever," said Stacy Rasgon, a senior analyst with Bernstein Research.
Tan, who became CEO in March, has longstanding ties to China through a venture capital firm he founded decades ago. Those connections, while widely known in the industry, have come under renewed scrutiny as tensions between the U.S. and China escalate over technology and national security.
