LEE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) - Sen. Tim Kaine toured the Lee County Community Hospital on Thursday with concerns about how federal cuts will impact rural health care.

Kaine helped reopen the hospital in 2021, and since the passing of President Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" in July, he's been working on legislation to combat cuts to food assistance programs and health care.

"It's a real amazing story," Kaine said. "A hospital, especially a rural hospital that closed and then reopened. And so I wanted to come back and see, okay, how is it going, how does Lee County feel about this? How's the hospital on the Ballad network serving the community?"
