(KRON) — South Bay residents may hear some loud booms tonight.

Don’t worry. Levi Stadium is hosting a planned and permitted fireworks display for the San Francisco 49ers tonight from 8:30 to 8:35 p.m. Citizens may hear fireworks in the Santa Clara/San Jose area during this time.

The Santa Clara City Fire Department asks that residents refrain from calling 911 in response to tonight’s fireworks.

“A short, permitted fireworks display will occur,” the Santa Clara City Fire Department said. “... This is a planned event hosted by the San Francisco 49ers. Please do not call 911 to report the sound of fireworks — only call 911 in the event of a true emergency.”

The 49ers play their first preseason game of the year against the Denver Broncos at home on Aug. 9. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.
