DETROIT LAKES — The largest country music and camping festival in the country is underway this week in Detroit Lakes, and there’s been a last-minute addition to this year’s WE Fest lineup: Mother Nature.

Severe weather is in the forecast Thursday and Friday, including the possibility of strong winds and tornadoes.

In the 42 years of WE Fest, the campgrounds have never been evacuated, and emergency leaders hope that does not change in 2025.

More than 25,000 people are expected to attend the country music festival this year.

“It’s getting really busy, people have some pretty good setups. A lot of nice people,” said Alexa Smith of Blaine, Minn.
