• For more than four decades, kids have been getting their first bikes and cyclists have gotten tune-ups and repairs at Chesterton Bicycle Station, 116 S. 4th St. Now, owner Tony Evans said he is ready to retire after reaching a deal to sell the property.
• The bike shop is now having a liquidation sale, selling off inventory, display and fixtures in anticipation of closing Aug. 30.
• Evans started the business in his garage in 1983 after a three-year enlistment in the U.S. Army. "We've had adults coming in to buy their kids their first bike when they came here as a kid to get their first bike," Evans said. "It's come full circle."
